Niche Finder Definition – Backlinks
Here’s another term that baffles new internet marketers…backlinks.
Backlinks = Links To Your Site
Why is this important? Because this is one of the key factors Google uses to rank your site both in terms of Page Rank and in the SERPs. Google figures if other sites are linking to you, you must be important enough to rank well.
You can go to Yahoo Site Explorer to find out how many backlinks you have (look for Inlinks).
Backlinks can be from external sites but links within your own site (as well as other sites you own) also count.
Basically a link is a link so all links are useful, but links from high PR sites (they already have reputation and authority so in a sense they’re vouching for you) are particularly valuable.
