I realized in reading Lynn Terry’s article, How to Choose a Niche, that I had jumped right into keyword research without talking about the brainstorming phase.

Lynn’s article is a wonderful introduction, talking about doing what you love, doing what you know and doing what you’d like to do.

That last is my favorite and I’ve been recommending it ever since I heard Michael Crichton say he started his books with a question he didn’t have an answer to. Makes it a whole lot more interesting don’t you think?

Here’s some of what Lynn says about this way of choosing a niche,

Since you are just getting started at it yourself, you actually are your target market. This puts you in an ideal position, and gives you insight and empathy with your market – you can easily connect with them on their level.
