Good News & Bad News re: Market Samurai
Okay, here’s the deal…
A couple of months ago now, Google changed how Market Samurai could access their keyword tool and their traffic estimator tool. Ever since that time there have been problems using the keyword research module. For the most part, these problems have involved speed, or lack there of, and the hijacking of memory.
I have posted here a couple of times recommending that you not try Market Samurai right now. Then the problems would seem to clear up and then they’d be back again. Bottom line is that the keyword research tool is a mess.
That’s the bad news.
The good news is…
Our good friends over a Market Samurai are looking into a completely new system for collecting data which is expected to speed things up.
But there’s more bad news…
This system is not ready yet, and my sense is that it may be a few months before it is.
So what to do?
I can’t tell you, but here’s a review of what’s working and what’s not. From there you’ll have to decide for yourself.
– The keyword research module works but it is very, very slow. It also takes a huge amount of memory to run which means other applications like email, Firefox, Tweetdeck etc. often become unresponsive.
– All other modules are running perfectly. The 2 most important are the SEO Competition and Rank Tracker modules. These are working just fine, and frankly, I couldn’t live without them.
– I’ve used Market Samurai for 2 1/2 years and during that time I have watched these tech folks solve every problem that came their way…quickly and efficiently. Personally I have every faith in them. I’m sure they will get this job done as well, but I also understand how you might be skeptical since you don’t have that history.
– The price is still under $100 when you buy via the free trial (just wait for the offer via email). I can’t say one way or the other whether the price will increase when they introduce the new system.
As I said, I can’t tell you what to do. I hope I’ve given you the information you need to make an informed decision.
Whatever you decide, I would encourage you to stick around because I am very sure Market Samurai will be back and better than ever.
I’ll be shouting from the roof tops when it happens, but just in case you’re not within ear shot, you might want to sign up for my mailing list.
Hope that helps
