(PROKARYOTES DON’T HAVE A NUCLEUS!)

Um I really don’t know I think it is A maybe???

I think I am right. I didn’t feel like looking up some of these and I figured it would be more beneficial if you did.

Where can I promote my new fiction blog?

So I started a new blog. It is a YA fiction blog but I am not sure how or where to promote it! I have another blog about Diabetes and it seems to much easier to find the niche. Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction?

Laura asks…

finding college students with similar interests?

im having major problems with college right now. im rather shy and nerdy and thats where the problems are coming from.

ive tried joining multiple clubs on campus to be more social but it hasnt worked out. i often feel very awkward and shy when i show up. the only one im currently involved with is a tutoring club where we tutor middle school students. i feel out of place there since all the other tutors all ‘click’ with each other but im the only really nerdy guy there. im only in it because i heard tutoring can really help one’s communication skils which are needed in the workforce.

my only ‘friends’ are mostly those in my classes, but theyre also nerdy and dont have social lives. i only really have 1 non-nerdy close friend
basically i would stay the nerd i am, but unfortunately attractive girls never go for guys as nerdy as me (the only ‘smart’ guys they like are also TALL and goodlooking, unlike me)

i dont have many interests other than the subjects I’m studying, watching sports (even tho i’m not even close to a jock), and some random esoteric interests (x-files, certain animes, etc)

i dont know where to find my niche. i would try getting back into anime, but it chews up too much of my time. i would try the sci-fi club, but they like DnD and RPGs and stuff i’m not really into.

is it worth the time and effort to join new clubs to find my niche? i only have a few months til i graduate

Social skills do not come easy for some people and my advice is to practice. Have you ever noticed how some people have trouble with math and they have to study or try hard? It is the same with social skills. You just have to try harder and force yourself to talk to people especially with girls. I am nerdy myself, and I started out just like you. However, I forced myself out of that shell by talking to people as much as possible. After a while it will seem less awkward and you will be more social.

Sandra asks…

I’m new this year, second semester tomorrow, please give me some advice! (=?

Hey, uhhh background– I’m pretty chill and girly, good grades are important to me so I’m in mostly advanced classes. I like fashion, boys, dirty jokes, and hanging out with friends- but I don’t have any.

New semester tomorrow, 10th grade, most of my schedule changes.
I just want to recreate my first day of school, because first semester was hell.
Every day I go to school, in each of my periods no one talks to me.
No one knows me, my guy-life is non-existant, I don’t have any real friends. I was accepted into the large nerd group, and they’re nice and I’m grateful, but even they don’t talk to me much. This describes how they treat me perfectly:

tired of being the ones to instigate conversations, are the last ones invited to something, are never invited unless asked, are talked about behind their backs, are tired of being left out, of being the 5th, sixth or seventh wheel, are tired of getting lied to, are tired of not being told anything. I am a good friends whoisn’t given the chance to be one.

And I don’t get why, I’m reasonably outgoing and had a great group of friends where I moved from.
So yeah, since 1) I’m left out 2) We don’t click AT ALL– I haven’t found my niche in the school 3) They aren’t exactly the people to help with social status (I don’t care THAT much about that, I’m just saying) I really want to find a new group to hang out with, who will appreciate me.

I just don’t know how.
I was so established at my old school, and I’ve never had to start over.

I like meeting new people but most of the time I am really shy at first. And I want to change that. But I don’t know how to!!
Any advice, please?
Where should I sit when I walk into a classroom full of strangers?
Who should I talk to?
What can I even talk about to them?
I get the whole “be yourself” thing, but I can never think of anything to say to people I don’t know? Where do I even begin?
How do I find my niche in school- the people I click with, belong with?
Help, I’m really nervous, moving is pretty tough, and I am SO TIRED being alone. =(

New Niche Finder answers:

Gosh honey you sound exactly like me it’s scary. Sophomore year I started a new school and didn’t really fit into a group of friends, although people were generally nice to me. I wasn’t comfortable with going up and talking to people even though I forced myself to do it, yet no one would follow through afterwards.

So what I think you should do is wear a really awesome outfit so you feel confident, walk into class with a smile and sit back and observe who you think you may want to be friends with. Once you have a group you can see yourself being friends with start a conversation with them. It’s also easiest if they sit around you. Just talk to people, make small talk and you might be surprised. You may also want to talk to them about what activities they do and see if you can tag along sometime. You will find your friends. You’re only a sophomore. I say this because I’m a senior, and sophomore year I was really shy and had no friends and now I have a group of friends and continue to be open to new people. Best of luck!
