Your Questions About How To Discover New Artists

John asks…

How can I have my own TV Network? What do I need?

am a great music fan of Trance, Electronic, House, DnB and I want to share this passion with everyone.. all I see on tv is commercial but there are great artists beyond the known ones, and I want to have a TV Program to discover new talents from the underground of my genre and in the same time give other fans of this genre the opportunity to listen Great Music!

Please be serious about it.. don’t post silly answers and money are not a problem.. I just want to know what do I require to have a TV Netowork.

Well I just posted that I want a TV Program but seems that I have to ask a network to run my TV Program.. I want to have it all not depend on some network so this new question.. “How can I have my own TV Network?”

Since now Yahoo! Answers have been great answering my sometimes silly questions but this is serious and I see it as an opportunity for myself.

Cheers everyone and thanks in advance.

New Niche Finder answers:

Sorry, but money *is* a problem. A single TV station will cost millions of $ to buy or start and further $ to operate. A network is, by definition, a group of stations. Now you are looking a many more millions of $. Also getting a licence to operate a TV station is a very long, complicated, and competative process. Your self-confidence and enthusiasm are commendable, but you are not being realistic. Good luck anyway!!

They had that crazy preacher with the rocker, the dog, & the chalkboard who talked crazy for years on his own cable channel.

Linda asks…

Have you ever heard of Jason Reeves?

If you’ve never heard of him, I suggest you check him out. He’s written for Colbie Caillat (including her songs Bubbly, & Realize), Lenka (The Show) and a few other artists including Demi Lovato.

He’s an Acoustic/Folk/Pop singer/songwriter. So if you’re into that kind of music, or you’re looking to check out new types of music, I suggest you check his music out.

Why?

Well he writes some beautiful songs. He is the total opposite from the music you hear today. He’s a real, genuine artist. That’s hard to find now a days. AND his words are beautiful and inspiring. His photographs are amazing. I think he deserves more recognition than what he has now.

So, I hope some of you check out his music. It’s worth it, believe me. Give me some feed back if you like him. @DorkVee on twitter. (you don’t need to follow, just give me feedback.) I’m not a promoter or Jason Reeves. Just a fan that wants other people to discover new, great music.

:)

and if you don’t like him or give a shit, just move on and don’t give it another thought. I don’t want to read any stupid comments about how you could care less. Thanks.

I got into Jason Reeves a few years ago. Photographs and Memories is probably my favourite song by him :)
If you like Jason Reeves, may I suggest Tyrone Wells, Five Times August and Angus and Julia Stone? All three are singer/songwriter types and they’re amazing.

Michael asks…

How the heck in more than 20 years of my life nobody told me that ELO was so amazing?

I love music and I love discovering new bands and songs. Since I have internet I tried to search for a lot of old stuff as I dislike most of the music that is produced nowadays. I got to know many bands and artists such as the Beatles, the Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen, CCR, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, Traveling Wilburys and lots of others.

BUT, most of these I got to know because I heard people talk about them or they recommended me listening to them. I reached a point where I thought I had already discovered all of the biggest bands long ago, until one day I started researching through the Electric Light Orchestra discography. It was the most amazing musical shock of my life.

My question is, how is it possible that no one in this damn world could have talked to me about such incredible band which produced several dozens of masterpieces and mixes up Rock n Roll with classical music? If not for my curiosity I would have known very little about that fucking genius that is Jeff Lynne. Why do people don’t talk about it? Is it that they dislike it, ignore it or just don’t know it? How is it that it took 23 years for me to discover it??????????

They were always the sort of band that everyone kind of liked but no one was a really dedicated fan of.
I appreciate their stuff now more than I did when it was new.
