Your Questions About How To Discover New Music

William asks…

How do you discover new music on tumblr?

Really basic question but I’ve wondered how people discover music on tumblr since I thought it was only for pictures and gifs and things like that. Discover as in like new bands or songs that I haven’t heard of, not just like music I already have. I know this is possible because my friend always finds these awesome bands and songs before anyone else and she says from tumblr but i have no idea how! If someone could explain this to me it would be MUCH appreciated because I’ve been trying to find a website that lets me discover new music and if its possible through tumblr thats awesome. THANK YOU!

It’s easy if you prefer sepcific genre. Just follow some blogs of that genre. Example: you are a metalhead, so you follow blogs about metal music – confession blog are useful so you can read what other people think about those bands and check if you like them.

What is the relation between Music Therapy and Psychology? Could I study both?

I am a High School Junior currently looking into my future. I love both Psychology and music and recently discovered the field of Music Therapy. I was planning on getting a doctorate in Psychology before I discovered Music Therapy, and I’m wondering if could somehow study both or get my doctorate and then go into Music Therapy. I was planning on going to Concordia University Nebraska, but that can change if need be. Any help would be great. Thanks!

New Niche Finder answers:

The relation between music therapy and psychology is that some people with disorders (depression would be a good example) want help through therapy, not medication. So one of the various types of therapy that may be able to help them is music therapy. They find out which songs make their mood better, and their depression less noticeable, or what instrument they can play that makes them feel happy.

What you can do is double major in music therapy and psychology. Unfortunately, there arent any colleges in nebraska that offer both of those majors. But there ARE twenty colleges within the midwest area that DO offer both majors.

But i think a good choice for you would be to first, focus on psychology (especially cause itll get you a better job than music therapy), and get what ever degree(s) you want in that field. Then when youre done with that, you can go back and just get a bachelors in music therapy while youre working as a psychologist.

Donald asks…

Do you agree that this is a golden age for music?

Nowadays we have such a broad spectrum of music available to us- and with the invention of the internet we can share, create and discover music more easily than ever before. Although the charts may be filled with rubbish, there’s a lot of quality stuff being produced too.

New Niche Finder answers:

Agreed =)

And for those who argue it was better at another time, that same music is still available to listen today. Plus more. So I don’t see what the problem is.
