How do I keep up to date on the trance music scene?

Since I discovered trance music a few months ago I have wanted to become part of the scene, like going to concerts in my area and subscribing to magazines. My question is where do I go to find info on trance happenings in my area, and are there any magazines?

Check out the progressive trance music network is a resource website for artists, DJ’s, record labels, promoters and people who simply love the music and the scene.

Donna asks…

what kind of music do kids listen to?

I am going to start a Dj Business and I am going to Dj at kids birthday parties and stuff.
I am an 80’s man I have been listening to the classics ever since i discovered music. I never listened to kids music or the newer music that they play on radio stations like 98 PXY. I was wondering what kind of music kids like?
Middle school kids and Jr. High kids.
And possibly 3rd graders.

New Niche Finder answers:

You will never be a successful DJ if you have to ask people.

With that said, look up chart music for all the different genres, follow blogging, music, bootlegging and torrenting communities. Become a member of local rave/party planning websites. You should have already figured this out, but I guess you’re pretty old. Depending on what scale of DJing you want to do, I would start to get to know your local party culture, get to know everyone in a particular club, make a demo and start out small.

What’s the best site for promoting music BESIDES Myspace?

I want a site where people can discover my music as soon as I put it up. Any that you know of?

New Niche Finder answers:

Create a www.zoomspec.com profile. It’s 100% free and you can upload image/audio and video files to promote your business. You can create a blog, advertise in the classifieds, link to any youtube clips/ myspace etc. You have uploaded, publicise events, participate and promote in the forums etc. And manage it all from a single profile page.

Just to be different and stand out from the crowd, why not create a mini ad campaign video and upload it for maximum impact?

The site members are other businesses, individuals promioting their talent, and peopel who just want to share hobbies, ideas and network. It’s ideal for people who don’t want the hassle of setting up and maintaing their own website, or have the costs associated with developing, domain name purchasing, hosting fees etc. Best of all, it’s quick and easy to set up.

Hope this helps.
