Your Questions About How To Discover New Species

Robert asks…

What’s the deal with Adam naming all the animals?

How did we lose the names for them. When we discover a new species we have to make up a name. Why didn’t Adam write that stuff down? He must have known he was wasting his time since nobody was around to remember them.

New Niche Finder answers:

He only gave them names because he thought that it was impolite to have sex with someone without knowing their name first.

Mandy asks…

If humans are the only animals that differ tremendously in term of science/technology to other?

animals. How is it possible that humans are the only animals that get to adavance at this step? Why didn’t any other animal manage to become so intelligent? When Science discovers a new species comparable to human intelligence that’s the day I won’t believe in God. but now I do believe in God.

Neil Young gets new honor — his own spider. How cool is that : ) Your thoughts?

1 hour, 12 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES (Reuters Life!) – Iconic singer and songwriter Neil Young has had an honor bestowed upon him that is not received by many musicians — his own spider.

An East Carolina University biologist, Jason Bond, discovered a new species of trapdoor spider and opted to call the arachnid after his favorite musician, Canadian Neil Young, naming it Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi.

“There are rather strict rules about how you name new species,” Bond said in a statement.

“As long as these rules are followed you can give a new species just about any name you please. With regards to Neil Young, I really enjoy his music and have had a great appreciation of him as an activist for peace and justice.”

Young, 62, is a veteran rock musician who rose to fame in the 1960s with the band Buffalo Springfield and later became a member of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, whose 1970 release “Deja Vu” has become a classic rock album.

The singer/songwriter, whose solo work ranges from older albums such as “Harvest” to newer CDs like “Living with War,” has long been an activist for social and anti-war causes.

Bond discovered the new spider species in Jefferson County, Alabama, in 2007. He said spiders in the trapdoor genus, who tend to live in burrows and build trap doors to seal off their living quarters, are distinguished from one species to the next on the basis of differences in genitalia.

He confirmed through the spider’s DNA that the Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi is an identifiable, separate species of spider within the trapdoor genus.

Young is not the first musician to have a creature named after him. A species of beetle that looks as if it is wearing a tuxedo — the whirligig beetle, or Orectochilus orbisonorum — was named earlier this year after the late rock ‘n’ roll legend Roy Orbison and his widow Barbara.

Susan asks…

What should I do when someone uses my blog content?

This website is using my blog content word for word and I’m not quiet sure what to think of it.
Their site http://paps.site50.net/category/dog
My site http://bunkblog.net/home/newspecies-discovered

Is this bad? I kind of feel weird about someone using my content. They are linking to me, but only because I thing they just copied and pasted the html.

How should I respond to this?

If you are the owner of a copyright you can provide notice to the webhosting company that houses the infringing material, and they will almost always take action. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act provides protection from copyright infringement lawsuits for service providers. This protection manifests itself in immunity from being sued for infringement, but they must take reasonable and swift action to remedy an infringement once they are notified. Since they do not want to lose their immunity from copyright infringement, if you notify them of an ongoing infringement they will almost always order the website owner to take down the infringing material, or they will.

Richard asks…

Dimensions of Noah’s ark are impossible?

As we all know according to Hebrew history, a cubit is the length of one’s forearm. If you calculate the dimensions of the ark (300cubits=450feet x 50 cubits=75 feet x 3 decks), you see that it isn’t even large enough to fit 40 days worth of food for all animals in the world, let alone all the animals themselves.

Remember, there are MILLIONS of animal species in the animal kingdom (the hundreds of thousands of vertebrates make up only 1% of animals on earth). Assuming every animal took 1 inch of space, and you have at least 2 of each species, you still wouldn’t have enough room. This also leaves room to ask, “Why did Christians think the animals of Australia were a hoax if there was already a previous knowledge of them?” or “How can we still be discovering new species of animals?” And finally, if dinosaurs weren’t carried on the ark, then Noah didn’t fulfill the will of God?

New Niche Finder answers:

The story of Noah is a myth.
If a boat were built to the proportions in the bible, it would destroy itself under it’s own weight.
Besides, if a story of a world wide flood were true, there would be evidence of such. And there isn’t.
(and I’m talking about REAL evidence, christian science website made up crap doesn’t count in the real world. Sorry christians…)
