Your Questions About How To Find A New Career

Ruth asks…

How long should you stay in a career to make the time you spent getting the education worth it?

If you know that you want to change careers in the future, but you have only been in your current one for a few years, when is a good time to change? Especially, when you got a masters degree for your current career?

New Niche Finder answers:

As long as you are enjoying and feeling fulfilled in your career chocie. That is and individual question that changes for everyone. No one can make a choice like that for someone else. If you are happy, then why change? Would you change because everyone else is or because it is now the “cool” thing to do. The trend in life now is to have 3 different careers, so keep up with the Robinsons? There is no set rule that says you ever have to change careers. That’s because, you don’t. It is all up to you and your want.

How did you choose your career or what your studying at university?

Did you have a passion for what you do or did you just “fall into it”?

Any tips on career planning , I’m at university now but I really don’t like my current course.

I’m studying Communications. I wanted to study in this field since I was in high school and now, my junior year of college, I don’t regret it at all. My advice is to look at job listings of careers you’re interested in and see what educational requirements they list. Some jobs just ask for a Bachelors in ANY field, while others might list a few degrees you may have.

Best of luck!

What careers could there be for someone who wants a career in history?

I love history and i want to pursue a career in it but i’m not very smart. My gpa isn’t very good but when i take a higher level history class. I’d be willing to put the work in if i had to. Right now i’m looking at a career in art, i’m passionate about that but it doesn’t make sense to me like history does. History just clicks in my brain.

Top 10 college majors with the lowest mid-career salaries:
2. Elementary education: $42,400
7. Education: $54,100
9. Fine arts: $56,300
10. Drama: $56,600

Careers related to history:
Lawyers – must know precedents from other law cases & history of laws, development of it. Once the tough part is done, being a lawyer is a lot of form filling and driving from office to courthouse.
Psychologist – must know decisions people make, why, and what their feelings are

Careers related to art:
Interior designer – design insides of hotels, business buildings, and government buildings to create different moods such as relaxation or efficiency
Museum Curator – maintain museums, arrange publicity, exhibits
Architecture – you can figure this out

I know some people are so stubborn that they have to be an art teacher or history teacher. Stubborn until they see their first paycheck. I’m pretty sure all of these jobs pay more, but ultimately, you decide.

I have always had a passion for helping people and knew I wanted to leave the world a little better than I found it, so I always knew I would either be a criminal justice major or some field involving children. This is my last year in school and I am CJ major. What year are you in school. The first couple of years are about finding yourself and deciding what you want to do. Plenty of people have no clue what their interest are the first couple of years. Take a lot of different classes, talk to people in different fields, find out what your strengths are, chose some creative electives, and go online and research different careers. I am sure in your time you will figure it out.
