Your Questions About How To Find A New Doctor

Robert asks…

What is a primary doctor?

Well, does it mean that’s the only doctor I can turn to when I’m under my parent’s insurance? Does it mean I can’t go to a different doctor when I need a second opinion because I really despise my primary doctor? What if the other doctor accepts the same insurance?
If the other doctor accepts the insurance, I go see the different doctor right? What would happen? Will my primary doctor get mad? What about medical records?
I know its a family doctor -.- but specifics please!
Well I’m okay with my primary doctor when it comes to physical exams, but I’m sick here, & my primary doctor just misdiagnosed me so I need to see a different doctor for now
What i mean is my primary doctor is worse when it comes to diagnosing the sickness

New Niche Finder answers:

A primary doctor is simply the doctor you see most. There’s nothing stopping you from changing your primary doctor or seeking a second opinion.

Laura asks…

what is the meaning of a doctor?

what is the meaning of a doctor

New Niche Finder answers:

Actually, the word doctor stems from the Latin word “docere” meaning to teach. Any learned person was referred to as doctor, in the connotation of a teacher. Later it came to refer to a person who held a doctorate degree from a university. We still refer to most university professors as doctors.

Over the recent centuries the term doctor became more associated with qualified practitioners of the medical sciences.

James asks…

Doctors income(not surgery doctors)?

ok so basically i was thinking about becoming a doctor when i get older but not a doctor that does surgery. Maybe a family doctor or any other doctor that does have to do some kind of surgery or anything like that. I was just wondering all the different kinds of doctors, what they do, and how much they get paid. also how many years of medical school they need to go to because my family is poor and i would have to pay for college by myself. im trying to earn 100k or my by the time im 25-30.

New Niche Finder answers:

Income is not a good reason to become a doctor – there are easier ways to make money. You have to really want to become a doctor.

There are a lot of expenses involved in becoming a doctor. Most doctors end up at least $100K -$250k in debt depending on where they did their university and medical school training.

For all doctors:
4 years of college
4 years of medical school
4-7 years of residency (depending on specialty)

Then and only then do you start to practice.

Donna asks…

What are the different types of doctors?

I might want to become a doctor some day, so I was wondering what types of doctors there are. (Doctors where your title is Dr.) What specializations are there? All I can think of is general practitioner. What types of doctors are in the field of psychology?

New Niche Finder answers:

There are many doctorates – almost every field has one. Medical Doctor (MD) is only one of the very many.

There is the PhD (in about any subject), the EdD (Doctor of Education), the DBA (Doctor of Business Administration), DPH (Doctor of Public Health), DA (Doctor of Arts), DMus (Doctor of Music), DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts), DME (Doctor of Music Education), PysD (Doctor of Psychology), ThD (Doctor of Theology), DSc (Doctor of Science) and lots more…. These are academic doctorates and take about 8-10 years after high school.

There is also the MD (Medical Doctor), JD (Doctor of Jurisprudence), DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine), DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery), DO (Doctor of Osteopathy), DC (Doctor of Chiropractic), DPTh (Doctor of Physical Therapy), PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy), and lots more… These are first professional degrees and take about 3-4 years after you get your bachelor’s degree but many of these professions also require an internship or more advanced study for a specialty area.

The prenomial title of all of these people is properly “Doctor”. The occupational title of an MD (Medical Doctor) isn’t “Doctor”, it’s “Physician”.
