Helen asks…

What should the penalty be for someone who recently drowned a pomeranian dog?

Recently here in Australia someone broke into another persons house and put their pomeranian in their pool. Unfortunately the dog could not swim and drowned. When the owner came home the dog was found dead at the bottom of the pool.

Paul asks…

Can dogs really be jealous of other dogs?

I have a Pomeranian a little over a year old. Yesterday while I was at a friends house I was petting and playing with her dog. Last night when I came home my dog ran to me as usual and started sniffing like crazy. Ever sine this she has been ignoring me and not listening. My bf says she smells another dog and is jealous. I don’t know is that possible?

New Niche Finder answers:

I think dogs can definitely get jealous. My dogs do the same thing when I see other dogs. Plus I noticed when we got our new dog and we played with her my other dog would always try to break it up and get attention because she was jealous of the attention the puppy was getting.

Jenny asks…

How to train dog to like cat and other people?

My dog(german shepard) was raised by their first owners to be a guard dog. So everytime someone new comes in our home my dog goes crazy and growls and tries to attack them. So we made her an outside dog, and put her in at night. Shes the sweetest dog to my family but thinks everyone else is an intruder. And we got a cat, and my dog HATES cats. At night when we put my dog inside, we put her in the kennel and if she sees my cat she goes nuts.

Michael asks…

How can I make my dog stop licking sores on himself?

At night or when im not home my dog (6yr old greyhound) licks the same spot over and over and over until its a round nasty sore. He usually does it on his back legs, tail, or hip. A dog trainer I talked to called it hip sucking and said he was going to do some kind of activity to make him stop (which hasn’t worked) I know its from boredom…He wont do it when im around because ill make him stop but I cant stop him when im asleep or at work. People have advised giving him toys or treats to occupy him but if i give him any kind of bone he chews threw it in like an hour and makes his mouth bleed. He doesn’t play with toys except the rubber ones he can rip pieces off of to easily to leave him alone with and I had a kong toy for him..Hes a ninja dog at getting the stuff out..like within 5mins…No matter what it is..if its peanut butter..whatever he cant reach within 5 or 10mins he’ll just leave it and has nothing to do with it anymore..Hes obsessed with food but not willing to work for it for to long…Idk what else to do? He looks pathetic lol.
Okay to all these answers…He is a greyhound…Skinny neck…long nose…Cones do not work ive tried..The bitter apple spray..Ive tried 3 diff kinds and he licks more to get it off..doesn’t even phase him…He doesn’t like to run around because hes had injuries, anddd to the doggy daycare deal..He doesn’t like other dogs cause they’re “weird” (hes only used to other greyhounds behavior) and thinks small dogs are rabbits 😉 He is on a holistic food because he has sensitive skin and uses a medicated shampoo.. But hes not licking for allergy purposes he licks the same 3 or 4 spots all the time..When it was allergies he scratched and licked EVERYWHEREEE
Hes eating the Holistic Nutro Ultra

New Niche Finder answers:

It sounds to me like an allergy issue. You may want to consider trying to switch foods. Some of the biggest allergy issues are chicken, corn, wheat, and sometimes rice. You may want to try to switch to a lamb and rice formula to begin with, and then a grain free formula if that didn’t work.

Personally, I like to recommend Nutro Natural Choice. It is all natural with no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, no corn, wheat, or by-products. The Lamb and Whole Brown Rice formula is great for dogs with skin allergies. My lab eats the Natural Choice and he does amazing on it. The Natural Choice line is the only one with a guarantee to improve your dogs skin and coat.

I hope that helps!
