Your Questions About How To Find A New Home For Your Dog

Nancy asks…

How to train a dog to use its dog house?

My dogs are outside when we are not home which is during the day. When we come home my dogs are sitting right in the rain. We just built them a brand new dog house but they won’t use it. We tried putting a bed in there but the next day is was torn up and the pieces were all over our yard.

New Niche Finder answers:

You can’t train them if you are not there & they obviously do not like the dog house.

Bring them in the house and crate them until they are trained to be alone in the house. It is totally wrong to leave dogs alone out in the rain like that.

Daniel asks…

Is there any Recipes to make your own Home-made dog treats?

I want to make some home-made dog treats
do you have any recipes?
Maybe something peanut-buttery

New Niche Finder answers:

We make our own dog treats at our house. There are multiple recipes but our favorite one is called Peamutt Butter.

1/4 cup peanut butter 1 tbs vegetable oil 1 cup water 2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour 1 cup oatmeal

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Use a big bowl to combine peanut buter, vegetable oil, and water. Gradually add flour, then oatmeal. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut with a cookie cutter. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 35 mins.

This should make about 2 1/2 dozen dog cookies. Enjoy 😀

You should also check the book out for other recipes. Book title is under sources. Good luck :)

Joseph asks…

Why is my dog acting aggressive towards me all of a sudden?

So my dog is a poodle mixed with a cairn terrier and he is really sweet. But randomly after 5 whole years he started to growl at me while he was sleeping in his kennel. I came downstairs just for a glass of water and when he saw me he started to growl. I looked at him and he started to make a loud snarling sound and that’s when I lost it and locked his kennel and went back upstairs to sleep. I usually let him roam around the living room if he wants but I got mad and locked him in the kennel. Apparently this has been happening before. My roommate gets home at about 11 pm to 2 am every day. He says occasionally my dog will growl at him when he comes home. My dog doesn’t bite him because my friend just walked away to his room. I can’t stand it though! Why is he acting aggressive all of a sudden? My roommate is the most friendly person ever and I know a dog can’t tell this but I can! And I don’t want my friend to be scared to come home because of my dog. And I don’t want to deal with him either. Can someone help please??

Epilepsy is one possibility to investigate. In the first group below, click Links then Diseases_&_Disorders and read the material about Epilepsy.
Dogs that have just had a petit mal aka “absence” are often startled when they realise how much their surroundings have changed while their eyes+ears-etc were “switched off” by the petit mal. Clumsiness is a signpost to petit mals. 4 is late to start – 2-3 is more common – but most epileptic seizures occur while everyone is asleep so are easily not noticed.

In addition – what were your sequences just before your pet growled at you? If you are creeping around in the dark, expect your pet to have difficulty identifying it as YOU. Talking plus using the lights helps the pooch recognise YOU (or your friend).

Another possibility is that you are a weak, ineffectual trainer – or use bullying methods instead of being a leader. It is common for under-trained pooches to start rebelling at 10 months old, behaving like turbulent tempestuous teenaged humans rebelling against all authority. Unless the owner promptly joins a proper training club’s classes to get coached on how to improve his/her techniques, by 3 years old such dogs regard themselves as the pack-leader of the whole household.

What is the best way to find a home for a dog?

I live in the Metro-Atlanta area and I desprately need to find a home for my dog. I don’t have the heart to take him to the animal shelter and the humane society is full. Does anybody know good/humane options?

New Niche Finder answers:

The best way is to get the word out to friends/family/co-workers. Let them know you have to get rid of your dog… You never know who might be wanting a dog.

Also let your vet know… He/she may have someone that brings their pet to them and want another one.
