Your Questions About How To Find A New Home For Your Dog

George asks…

When no one is home & at night dog sleeps on sofa. What can we do to train him to sleep in his own bed?

Our dog suddenly is sneaking onto our sofas. We went away one wknd, our daughter stayed home with our dog & he now sneaks onto sofas and runs to his bed when I wake up during the night or come home during the day. SO he knows not to get on the sofas because he runs to his own bed! How can we train him to not get up on the sofas? I bought him his own soft dog sofa bed.

New Niche Finder answers:

You have to catch him in the act and tell him no. You can put something on the couch so he can’t lay on it, or lift the cushions up. You could also try adding a blanket or a small pillow to his sofa bed that has your sent on it. He may want something that smells like you. Or he might want something to snuggle into. My dog has a regular bed pillow on his dog bed that he kinda snuggles into when he lays on it. Before I did that he hated his bed. He does still go on the couch. Can’t stop him from doing it when we’re gone. So I have a sheet on the couch that I can remove when we are going to sit on it.

Lizzie asks…

Linda asks…

Does anyone have a grain free recipe for dog biscuits?

My dog can not tolerate any grain in his diet. Grain free dog biscuits are very expensive and I would like to start making them myself. I have not been able to find a recipe that is truely grain free. No wheat, rice, oat, or corn based flours. I bought potato flour, but I don’t know what type of substitutions to use. Anyone have any suggestions? I have spent the past two weeks perusing home made dog recipe websites, but they always include some form of grain based flour.

Betty asks…

My dog barks and raises her hackles at my neighbor’s daughter?

My neighbor’s daughter is in her 40s and lives with her mother. When she comes home my dog will bark and growl through the fence and raise her hackles. The mother is in her 70s and can be in the yard all day and my dog won’t think twice about her being over there. Any suggestions on how to get my dog to stop going crazy towards the neighbor’s daughter?
My dog isn’t left outside all day.

Are you sure the woman lives with her mother and it isnt the other way around? Haha, just saying my Grandpa lives with us he is like 70 and my moms like 40…haha. Alot of times old people live with their kids.

ANYWAY, sometimes dogs dont like certain people and you never know why. Does she smoke? Some dogs..well, I know my dog growls at people who smoke alot. I dont know why put that could be a possibility.

Also, maybe she did something the dog didnt like when you werent watching. I’m not saying she hit it but it could something as simple as she got too close to your property and now the dog sees her as a threat.

Does she wear hats, big coats, any unusual clothing that would cause your dog to act like this?

Michael asks…

What kind of meat is good for dogs? which has the most nutrition?

Say if i wanted to cook for my dog. not like human food but home cooked dog food? is beef better? or chicken or turkey? veal? venison?
hes a beautiful black miniature poodle

New Niche Finder answers:

The most nutritional value will be derived from organic raw meats. As far as fat content, poultry is leaner than beef or pork.

But don’t cook it – just feed it raw. Less work for you and more nutrition for him!

EDIT: Invisibly Shaken is completely off the mark. It is a MYTH that your dog will develop a “taste for blood;” there is no proof to that whatsoever. But he’s right about raw eggs – those are one of Nature’s perfect foods.
