Your Questions About How To Find A New Job

James asks…

How do I handle getting a better job offer after accepting another one?

What does a person do if they get a better job offer right after you start working for another company? Scenario: I just started working for company A one week ago. Today, I get a job offer from Company B which is the job that I really wanted. I took job A because unemployment in my state does not pay worth crap (basically min wage). Job A is $11.25/hr and job B is $15-$17 hour. How do I handle this? Job B is the job that I really wanted, but they were dragging their feet.

New Niche Finder answers:

Just turn in your resignation to Job A – and – be sure to give a 2-week notice. This scenario happens to a lot of people, it’s frustrating to the employer, but they know it occurs. You should take the better job, just make sure that you properly resign from Job A.

What is the job called where you work in a bridal store helping brides pick out there dresses?

What is the actual job title? And do you need a college degree or any special training to get this job?

New Niche Finder answers:

It is an image or fashion consultant with a specialization in bridal ware. Although you wouldn’t need a degree, there is training available that help you learn about body types, recognizing someone’s personal style and concealing body flaws.

Your employer may provide you all the training you need but college classes always helps you get the better jobs with higher pay. You can take business classes so that you might be promoted to manager of the store or own a bridal boutique.

My close friend is a fashion consultant at an high-end boutique. She is amazing at picking out the right clothing for anyone. She did a lot of self-study. She read tons of fashion, watched serious fashion television shows, and took business and marketing classes. She became the manager after a very short time.

It’s confusing, in a bridal store they are called bridal consultants but most of the time people think of bridal consulting as coordination of the wedding details.

Update: Called my friend and she said that wardrobe consultant is another title for what she does. She said that training in color choice is important. There are many variations even in the color of bridal gowns and knowing which colors look good on which skin tones is important.

What are some other good job search resources besides online job sites?

Job sites in my area have been low on job option listings. What other resources can I tap into? Thanks.

New Niche Finder answers:

Actually, the best place to find jobs online is NOT on the online job sites. It’s by looking at the job sites for actual companies. Most companies of any size nowadays have a web site and if they have a web site they will almost always post their job openings on it. Why? Because it doesn’t cost them anything and they can post the job openings immediately because it’s their own web site. What you should do is make a list of, say, the 25 or 50 companies that might have openings suitable to you. Then, go to each of their web sites and click on the link for “Jobs”, “Employment”, or something similar. This will be the most up to date listing of their openings. This is far more productive than searching online job sites, because companies have to pay to be listed on them. Consequently, not all openings will be there. But they WILL all be of the company web sites. Check the sites twice a week, because most companies post jobs twice a week on their web site. I would check on Mondays and Thursdays, every week.

In addition to online job sites, be sure to check out the Sunday Classifieds. This is actually where I found my last job advertised and it was an upper management job. So be sure to check every Sunday.

Also, keep on eye out for any job fairs that may be in your area, as these are excellent for talking to several employers at once.

Additionally, consider taking jobs at a temporary employment agency. This can be great way to get your foot in the door at a company. I can’t tell you how many temporary workers I’ve hired over the years because of the good job they did.

Finally, consider joining some professional organizations or networking groups. The point is to get your name in front of as many people as possible.

Good luck in your job search.

Linda asks…

What good job is there to work for part time during University study?

My study starts in two months and I haven’t found any part time job with no qualification? I know many people work at a fast food restaurant like McDonalds then studying at Uni but that’s just ridiculous. Have you got any idea on any decent jobs with no qualifications out there?

New Niche Finder answers:

When I was in college I made it a point to get a job at a nice restaurant. The hours are great (15-25 per week) and I was able to bring in $100-200 per shift.

No, it’s not glamorous. It’s not really fun most of the time. But it does teach you about people, patience, and hustle; three very important things in any career. The best part is still having time for homework and hobbies.

Now, if you’re interested in doing something in a specific field there’s an entirely different set of advice you need. We’d need to know more about your specific situation before we could advise you on that.

Hope this helps.

John asks…

What type of job would be able to sustain the payments of a lamborghini?

As in what job/s has a high salary or net income?
Mainly a Murcielago V12 .

New Niche Finder answers:

Jobs won’t get you to luxury goods. Even a well paid professional only makes 2-300,000 a year. To become wealthy you need to own a business. To own a business making big money means working and saving for years.

As long as you are thinking in monthly payments you will not be able to afford nice things.
