Donna asks…

How physically demanding is a ramp agent job?

I may get a job at air Canada soon as a ramp agent. Do i really have to lift 70 pounds unassisted? How physically demanding is the job.

New Niche Finder answers:

If you have ever flown, you know that a ramp agent is not an easy job. You will be expected to lift 70 pound bags unassisted. Not all the bags are that heavy, but they aren’t light. You will have to work fast and hopefully careful…

How can I get a job without relevant work experience?

I applied for a job at Applebee’s as a server. But I only had one job and that was a work study job in an office. How can I get that job? I really want it

New Niche Finder answers:

You have to sell yourself in your ability to be relatable to people.

Say that in your office job you learned people skills, how to deal with different personalities and how to handle difficult people. They want someone who is very good with social skills. So sell yourself on that and how you’re also the responsible type.

What job positions would they have available for these jobs?

Okay so I got a couple job applications and this is my first time getting a job. I went and received job applications at bed baths and beyond, Kohl’s and Marshall’s. But I was wondering when they say position desired, what are all the different positions they have? I know there’s the cashier, but what other positions would they be offering?

New Niche Finder answers:

You can just write “Any” to indicate that you are applying for whatever they have available.

Retail stores all pretty much work the same way. They sell different things, but they work the same.

Cashiers – I don’t think I need to explain.

Sales associates/customer service – the people that assist customers in finding what they need, and sometimes paid a commission when they make a sale.

Shelf stockers – responsible for getting merchandise from the back room onto the store shelves.
Stock room – big stores need people who work in the back keeping the store’s stock organized and receiving new shipments from delivery trucks.
Inventory – the people who keep track of what the store has in stock, what stuff they need to order more of, and the organization/layout of the shelves (planograms).

^I grouped those things together because they aren’t always separate jobs. One person might perform multiple functions.
