Betty asks…

What is the difference between “niche marketing” and “market segmentation” ?

As far as I know these are both marketing strategies. They both focus on a segment of a broader market by identifying the needs and wants of a certain group of people. However, what I don’t get is the difference between the two, suppose if there is a question that “Write down the difference between niche marketing and segmentation” I am pretty confused how to answer it o.O….
I would be glad if u guys could clear my confusion.
Regards

New Niche Finder answers:

Market segmentation is a way to identity specific consumer preferences/needs within a market. Businesses can then customise their products/services to suit these different market segments.

There is a cost to the business for this customisation. So long as customisation and marketing of the product/service delivers suitable financial returns to the business it is viable to serve that segment. As you can imagine most large company use economies of scale to produce products that serve large segments.

This provides opportunities to innovative companies and new startups who identify a niche within a market segment. Smaller businesses are often able to deliver highly customised product/service to that niche’s at a price-point that suits both customer and the business. Note this does not necessarily mean cheaper.

Niche markets can be grown into significant market segments even completely new markets. Which maybe the source of your confusion.

Hope that’s of help.

Hey Nishant,

I know how you are feeling, it can be very hard to know what to do without following a step by step guide.

Luckily I recently wrote a post about finding niches here: http://workwithjoshcohen.com/what-is-niche-marketing/

I then have an advanced course still free of course that walks you through the process of how I build hundreds of niche sites

Please let me know what you think and if you have any other questions
Josh

Linda asks…

Starting niche affiliate marketing site: Free for merchants to join but I want to charge % of sale – how much?

I am starting a niche affiliate marketing service.

I allow both affiliates and merchants to join for free.

I intend to charge the merchants a % per completed transaction.

What do you think would be a fair percentage?

New Niche Finder answers:

Look at Ebay’s fees. You can also look at what companies pay affiliates like what does Amazon pay when someone buys a book thru an affiliate.
